Arnold Lights not working

Hi, I am trying to place arnold mesh lights in my Maya scene on my personal laptop, but when I try they simply don't appear at all and I get this error:

# Warning: Unrecognized node type 'aiMeshLight'; preserving node information during this session. #

# Error: TypeError: file C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2018\scripts\mtoa\utils.py line 512: 'NoneType' object has no attribute '__getitem__' #


I've tested different scenes and different kinds of arnold lights and I still get this same type of error. I've used arnold in Maya on other computers without issue, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Any help is appreciated.

Mtoa isn't loaded. Did you load the plugin? Check the script editor for errors.

that was my issue, didn't realize you had to load it manually the first time. Thanks!

Windows > settings/preferences > plugin manager > put a mark on mtoa.bundle
