converting mental ray->blank materials

So what about old mental ray models?

Trying to convert them into arnold materials with scene

converter and nothing happens.

Seems that 3ds max it self cannot read anymore anything

from mental ray.

Is that true?

Hi Petros, have you tried converting to ART first and then to Arnold?

Hello Lee, seems that max ignores anything about mental ray.

Inserting a mental ray model, it doesn't come with it's materials...

So yes I tried to converting it first to Art, but nothing happens.

For the moment I convert all my tons of mental ray models I have with max2018...

Sorry, I don't know any other way. Are you manually converting to the Physical material? Either way, Arnold should render the Physical material.

Lee, textures that were link to mental ray shaders are

not imported...this is the problem...

You might have to manually connect them I am afraid. It is something that I have just spent some time doing this morning. Sometimes it is just unavoidable.

yes Lee ok but at list if it let me import the textures...

and then ok I will assign them from start, no problem.

I don't know why it is banned so hard...

Now I must use an older version of max just as convertor...
