Hi,
I am currently trying to build a room that is completely dark but you should be able to see into a very bright exterior outside the window. My problem is that I the light from outside always scatters into the interior, thus lighting it up. Is it possible to make a glass material that allows to look outside without letting any light (direct or indirect) inside? I played around with different settings in the Arnold tag of both the window and the light, but could not achieve a decent result so far.

Maybe I am missing something in the exclude settings, but whenever I exclude the whole interior from the outside quad light, the indirect light still scatters through. The only way I really got it dark is to kill all indirect bounces off the quad light, which results in an unnatural look
Have you tried adjusting the light contribution attributes of the light?
Ray switch closure.
Control it with adding shadows or removing them.
The room here is then separated out from the light outside the glass window which has the ray switcher connected, and a standard surface made into glass piped in like this.
Using MAX, but same thing applies.
yes, that's actually what I meant when I said I killed all the indirect bounces, the correct way to say it would have been that I have killed all indirect contribution, sorry for that
