Hi
Evaluating max and arnold at the moment
Max 2021.1 (23.1.0.1314)
Arnold 4.1.0.71
Nvidia Studio Driver 451.77
Geforce RTX 2080 Super
Ryzen 3950X
Prepopulated GPU cache, and can run the renderer in GPU mode, but Optix is not working. Using as a production renderer, Optix option ticked in the Denoiser tab. Tried both progressive mode on/off, gaussian/box filters, adaptive sampling on/off. Nothing works. Set the log to info/debug, and no info or errors for Optix or GPU/Nvidia.
Tried both CPU and GPU render modes.
Using the new render view.
Am I missing something?
Any suggestions what should I look for?
many thanks,
Misho
Can you enable file logging, and show both that log and what's logged in the Render Message window?
Here's a screengrab

Basic scene
Plane, sphere, arnold skydome light (just color, no texture on it)
Standard surface on both objects
Default render settings
GPU rendering works, and I didn't get any errors on prepolulating the gpu cache
The Optix denoiser is not supported yet in the Arnold Render View (I can reproduce that, and I'm checking with the developers whether that's a bug or just something not implemented yet).
But with the built-in Active Shade or Production viewer, I get the Optix denoiser output.
In an Arnold log, you'll see this when the Optix denoiser is being applied to an AOV:
[Arnold]: 00:00:01 2430MB | [aov] * "RGBA" of type RGBA filtered by "/denoise_optix_filter__" (denoise_optix_filter)
ah, that's it then! Thanks for this Stephen.
v long time Maya user here, so was hoping this "new" render view would work straight out of the box. Guess will need a point version to iron things out. That and hopefully gpu will output the denoise variance pass, so we can process with noice. Is that in the near future in the roadmap?
thanks again,
Misho
