Engraved stone material?

Very new to arnold and nodes. I am trying to make a material where there is stone with egyptian hierglyphs engraved into the stone.I do not know how to make sandstone or limestone from scratch and I do not know how to add the glyphs on top afterward. Is there layering involved? displacement? I am not sure where to start. There aren't a lot of sources online about this specific thing. Any tips would be very helpful. From the user guide:

How to setup displacement.

Remember to increase subdivision_iterations for the object that you are displacing.

Then you could use rock or sandstone texture for the color and rock bump texture. You could even try doing this procedurally using noise shaders when you feel more comfortable.
