How to render planet atmosphere with ArnoldRender (C4DtoA)

Hi guys, I am trying to render the earth atmosphere in C4DtoA. I found a tutorial (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vpvFwhwDqX1Je0zhzAKDM9bY_NOKbPny/view) and wanted to achieve high-quality renderings just like the first and second images below, but my earth doesn't seem quite right yet. I wasn't able to follow the tutorial since he made the earth from HtoA... I also followed the tutorial 'Shading a Globe' from Arnold's website, but still doesn't look like realistic earth.

I have used Arnold Volume, Arnold distant light, and Arnold Sky in C4D.

Please kindly advise how to make this better.

Thanks,

I tried the section. But, there was no transmission_depth as you can see the screenshot attached below.

I guess you are using an older version of the plugin. There was a bug, that transmission depth was missing from the menu. It was fixed in C4DtoA 3.0.1.1.

Thanks! There is no bug now.

I followed the whole tutorial. The result looked different. I don't know why...Would you be able to check my working file to see? Thanks,

32000 pixel wide textures and 2000+ render resolution?? You like to live extravagantly! 🙂 I would work smaller when test rendering and then replace them with the high resolution textures for final frame rendering. That should speed up your workflow immensely.

I scaled the atmosphere sphere up a little and got this:

Did you just scale the atmosphere up from my working file?

Lee, I appreciate you again checking my working file. I got a better result. I have a question. Do you have any ideas to render the night lights of the city in the dark area if I have a texture of it? Thanks,

More or less. I think I tweaked some of the atmosphere shader values too.

Layer texture/shader? Post a reference photo of what you want to achieve and a render of what you are currently getting.

The first and second images are what I've done. I'd like to render clouds and night lights in the dark area of the earth like the third image. Thanks!

Did you try layering the textures?

Do you mean the layer shader?
