bump2D can't understand other UV coordinates?

Hey all

I am using the Arnold Standard Surface and applying a grayscale bump. I would like to use UV coordinate instead of object coordinates.

looks like osl:UVWChannel > OSL:Noise > Bump2D > StandSurface. ('normal' input slot)

works great and the noise "sticks" to my geometry.

However, if I apply another coordinate system to my geo, say, a planar projection set to UV3, and change my osl:UVWChannel to 3, my noise disappears from my object.

Am I doing something wrong? If I plug my noise into my base color, changing UV coordinate system works. I feel like it's the Bump2D that doesn't understand coordinate systems other than 1.

Any ideas?

BTW I'm using Max2021, Arnold 4.1.0.71.

OSL:UVWChannel > Image > Standard Surface works, so it seems to OSL:Noise

although I didn't get OSL:Noise to do anything, not with any UVW map channel
