Can I put a "normal" object in with a volume object render???

I have a scene trying to recreate Lee's VOlume Object and material tutorial. I have copied the head object, taken off the Arnold VOlume tag and wrapped a texture on it....it shows just fine in the IPR window, but when I try to render it...all I get is a black screen...totally overruling the perfectly fine volume render I get without it......any ideas what is happening here?

I'm not sure what's going on. Could you please send me the scene to take a look?

Thank you Peter, this happens on my laptop, when I sent the same scene to my workstation, all was well....will try to look into what can be different between systems

You can check the render log in the console, maybe there are any errors or warnings.
