From C4DtoA to MtoA?

Is there a way you can export your Cinema4D Scene w Arnold materials to a working Maya Arnold scene?

You can export an ASS file and then load that into Maya to render.

You can't export Arnold shaders from CINEMA 4D and then soimehow load them as editable nodes in Maya.

The ass export works for very simple things,

the moment I try to export more complex shaders i get following errors:

// Error: [ass] line 754: node "layer_color" is not installed // // Error: [ass] line 56: c4d|Sphere.shader: unresolved reference to 'c4d|arnoldmatsoe|standard_surface' // // Error: [ass] line 164: c4d|Eye_1|Cornea_1.shader: unresolved reference to 'c4d|cornea|standard_surface' // // Error: [ass] line 248: c4d|cornea|standard_surface.normal: unresolved reference to 'c4d|cornea|bump2d' // // Error: [ass] line 302: c4d|cornea|bump2d.bump_map: unresolved reference to 'c4d|cornea|11_Sclera_Bump_Blurred' // // Error: [ass] line 325: c4d|Eye_1|Sclera.shader: unresolved reference to 'c4d|outereye|standard_surface' //

😞

You need to add the C4DtoA shaders to the Shader Search Path in the Arnold Render Settings

or copy them to the mtoa bin folder

or set ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH before you start Maya

How can we add the shaders of cinema4D inside maya ? I don't get it 😕

You have to set the path of the folder with the shader library (e.g. C:\Program Files\MAXON\Cinema 4D R20\plugins\C4DtoA\shaders) to the Plugin Search Path field in the Render Settings / System tab. If you have multiple folders, use semicolon (;) to separate them.

Alternatively you can specify the folders in the ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH environment variable as well.
