Does Htoa currently support Python3.7 version of Houdini? I don't know when I can support it.

This isn't currently supported but we're looking to add the support in our ticket htoa#1386.

I can't believe it... (I have seen a problem with the "has_key") couldn't be more simple to fix...

I was taking for granted that could work with python3 straight away...

Any ETA? I wanted to switch to python 3 asap. Can you link the support ticket? Or much better, a roadmap of when will be supported.

Because seriously, python 3 is a must now. Everything is almost ported in my company.

Hey there,

Just bumping this...

Did you perhaps manage to find the support ticket "htoa#1386" mentioned above?

Or if the Arnold team could be so kind as to provide the link or information on where the ticket lies on the roadmap?

We've also just discovered that HtoA isn't currently supporting Python 3

Triggerfish had access to that ticket with their Solid Angle accounts, but we've recently moved to a different ticketing system and that is currently internal-only.

Hi again Stephen,

Thanks for the info! 🙂

Okay, since it's "internal-only" and we can't see the roadmap etc.
I'll take it as we don't yet have an estimate on when we're looking at a Python 3 supported HtoA release?

Regards,
Andrew

We're working on it. In general, I can't promise or specify dates for releases though. When it is added, it won't be in a bug fix release, it will be a feature release (eg not in a x.x.x.1 version, because that's a bug-fix-only version)

Right, will stand-by for this release. 🙂

(With Maya 2022 supporting Py3 this means that we have to code pipeline around Py2 just for Houdini which as I'm sure you're aware isn't ideal—hopefully a release will be soon :cross_fingers:)

What's the timeframe for making decision on whether to code pipeline around Python 2? A couple of weeks? A month?

We've started using Py3 for everything except Houdini, which we've now had to switch to Py2.

Will likely only need to finalize these pipeline tools for Houdini within the coming +-2-3 months in which if Py3 support arrives, we will likely be able switch back "in time".
