3ds max 2021.2 with MAXtoA 4.2.0.55 crash during loading a max file

Hello,

i have installed the new MAXtoA 4.2.0.55 plugin and since then 3ds max crashes when loading a file.
I uninstalled 4.2.0.55 and the previous version MAXtoA 4.1.2.1 is installed and I can load all files again.
Then again MAXtoA 4.2.0.55 and it does not work again.
I have recalculated the GPU Cash. I have the current NVIDIA Driver 452.57 and I have a Quatro RTX 4000.

Can someone give me a hint what I can do?
Thanks for your effort.

Frank

First, let's reset the user preferences. Can you rename this folder

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\3dsMax\2021 - 64bit\ENU

to ENU.bak and restart 3ds Max?

In Windows Explorer, you can type %LOCALAPPDATA% in the address bar to go to your local AppData folder (for example, it's C:\Users\blairs\AppData\Local for me)

Hi, this workaround works, but after this reset, if I customize again the 3dsmax interface (to use it "normally"), the 3dsmax will crash opening all files, again.

Now, I'm trying to customize one UI element per time, in order to discover the root of evil.

UPDATE.. root of evil found!

The "layer" toolbar causes the crash.

If activated (docked or floating) it will make the 3dsmax crash while loading files.

In my case it happens 100% of times (and works 100% of times if disabled)

I reproded it with just enabling the Layer toolbar, and load a scene. No need to customize the UI.
We'll investigate why it's happening.
Thanks for the report! Thanks Luca for the hint.
