Sample Filtering in Cinema 4D

Hello,

I have a question about the implementation of animations and the Arnold filters (Gaussian, Blackman etc.).

Which filter would you recommend for the film sector - for example for environment renderings or character rendering

Gaussian 2.0 is fuzzy, but you can reduce it (1.8, 1.6. Etc.) to increase the sharpness.

In the PP you could also re-sharpen manually.

Blackman Harris is sharper ...

However, the sharper, the more noise.

What are your experiences or what do you recommend

I use Gaussian and Blackman Harris. Gaussian is the standard and it gives you a good base to do sharpening on your own. Blackman Harris gives you more sharpness, but I tend to use that one for stills. Some of the other filters like Box, are old but still valid if you want to use it.

I think it is a personal preference. Gaussian 2.0 is the recommendation, but I have heard people prefer it slightly reduced. I have no real preference tbh. I have always used the default Gaussian filter, but I too would be interested in other people's opinions...
