Ordered Vars / exr Default Layer issue

Hi,

does anyone know if there is a way to specify which Render Var gets rendered as Default AOV in the exr file or how to force the order of the stored AOVs?

Please see the images below (renders displayed in RV):

On the left side is a render via Lop Context and on the right side rendered via Rop Context.
In Lop the aovs are ordered alphabetically, that's why the "albedo" aov gets displayed by default.

In the resulting USD File the Render Vars are correctly ordered, please see the attachment.

Thanks for any pointers!

Martin

For me, it's the order they are listed in the Ordered Render Vars. I put the beauty first.

There is a package called "Layer Select Mode" that you would need to enable in order to view the individual exr layers.

Go to preferences / Packages and Load the Package, then restart RV.
You should now have a new menu entry called "Layer Selector" in the tools menu.

My RV Version is rather old (7.1.1), probably that is the issue then.
But the ROP and LOP exr outputs are different nonetheless. In the LOP way there is one blank AOV added which can be seen in the Layer Selector Window underneath the default layer.

Thanks,
Martin

Hey Stephen,

I upgraded to the newest RV version (rv-win64-x86-64-2021.0.0) and the Beauty is now getting displayed by default.
But nonetheless writing out an exr via LOP creates an "empty" layer visible in the screenshots (below the word Default) that crashes RV if you click on it. The scene rendered via ROP does not do that.

Is this expected behaviour or is something wrong with the setup?

Thank you very much!

Martin
