mtoa - ASS export - RenderLayer Problem

Hey,

I´m using Maya 2019, MtoA 4.1.0, Arnold 6.1.0.0 and trying to export some selected ASS files by the anorld exporter and via custom python export.

Everything is working as excpected the only thing is as soon as i have more than the default renderLayer in my scene he is generting empty Render folders for the active renderlayer.

Is there a way in python (option flag) to stop arnold doing this and not genereting the Render folders automatical?

thanks,

alex

What's your custom python export?

When I tried exporting ass files, it didn't create any empty folders on the file system.

What are the steps to reproduce this problem?

Hey Stephan,

It´s also happening with the standard arnold standin exporter.

I´m getting this warning:

Warning: [mtoa] Multiple renderable render layers exist, but output path is absolute and without <RenderLayer> token: "//xx/xx/xx/tmp.<Extension>" #

my file name prefix in maya:

xx/v01/<RenderLayer>/xx_<RenderLayer>_v01

it´s only happening when multiple renderlayer are in the scene. if i´m deleting all renderlayer except the master it´s working and no empty folder will be created in the RENDERPATH.

I testet it against arnold 6.0.0 mtoa 4.0 same thing.

thanks,

alex

I still cannot reproduce this.
Tried exporting from the Arnold > Scene Export menu, and by setting the Render Type to export ass and rendering a frame.

I´ve installed a fresh maya version with arnold and default user settings still not working, as soon as there is more than 1render layer in the scene it makes the folder in the render output path. If I have AOVs in the scene the folders for them also generated.

I will investigate more time in the next days maybe i find something.

thanks,

alex

Can you upload a simplified version of the scene?

as you can see in the image the 2 generated folders.

Ok. So "empty Render folders" means folders in the "images" folder of the Maya project.

There's no way to avoid that.
