Arnold Toon Shader

Hello! i watched this toon shader tutorial lately for arnold and have a question about it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rxFULM5spg

at 5:38 he pipes in the shadow matte in the edge shadow mask and it shows the edges..if i do the same it doesn´t work instead the color gets multiplied in a strange way and i can only control it if i turn the edge with down but the shadows still don´t have an outline...has some one an idea to this... greetings!

Is the angle_threshold low enough?

Can you post some images/screenshots as per instructions on the right?

You could also try asking Calder in the comments of his video.

width-scale-1.jpgwidth-scale-0.jpghello. thanks for the quick answer..

the first image is with a edge with scale of 1 when i plug the shadow matte in the edge mask.

it overwrites just everything..

the second image is with a edge scale of 0.2 but the shadows still don´t have edges..

in both images the angle treshold is 12°...i lowered it to 2° but it´doesn´t make a difference...

The shadow_matte wasn't plugged into the mask_color. Not sure why it's not working properly with your sky. It is visible here using a point light. Maybe try a skydome_light or distant_light instead.

ah okay thank you so far...i think it has something to do with the lights...i plugged the shadow matte back in and changed the light to a point light and i have outlined shadows now on the volumes and the floor like i wanted to.. i am super happy so far and guess i will use different lights in the future working with the toon shader...great help!
