Solaris slow viewport update

Hi,

I am experiencing some slow viewport updates in Solaris (Houdini 18.5.408) using HtoA 5.5.01.

I am using my own lookdev template that seemed fine in Houdini 18. Since upgrading to 18.5 and the latest HtoA's I am not getting the same interactivity I was before. Before when I had a shader assigned I could change parameters and overall work quite interactively with the shader while it was updating in the viewport. Now whenever I change something in the shader I have to wait for the renderer to update everything each time it seems. Almost like it re-caches the whole scene per change.

Is this to be expected? Should I upgrade all my nodes in my template to the latest Arnold/Houdini ones?

Anyone else have experienced similiar behaviour?

Hey!

The warnings you see during startup can be ignored, it's due to us giving Hydra a list of available Arnold shaders in USD, and some utility shaders are not loaded at this time.

We are not aware of any performance regression going from 18.0 to 18.5, but Houdini's shader translation framework has changed between 18.5 and 18.0, which could be causing your issue. Could you share a scene so we can profile the relevant bits of the code? Either upload it here or send it to support@arnoldrenderer.com and reference this post.
