First off, I'm using 3ds max 2021.
So the general map 'OUTPUT' has a color map that I use a lot. you can control RGB curves separately, or just gain. (Mono) The same color map is available in many other maps. (bitmap, etc etc)
unfortunately, it doesn't work when rendering with Arnold. Arnold either ignores it or crashes.
I found an OSL map called OSL:Curves(float) that is similar, but lacks a lot of functionality. Basically, the points on the curve cannot have tangent handles, and the points on the curve itself can't go above 1 or below 0.
Does anyone know of a way to get the classic max color map to work with Arnold, or some arnold-friendly map with similar functionality?
Does it work with legacy Max shaders enabled (system tab)?
