options to disable reflections does not affect on anything

hey. i'm trying to avoid one object to reflect in other (for example scene with both reflective cube and cylinder; i want the cube not to be reflected in the cylinder) referring to this article. tried to manipulate those options, but these options have no effect on reflections.

arnold versions where i've met such issue: MtoA-4.1.1.1-2019 and MtoA-4.2.0-2019
am I doing something wrong may be, or it just not working as it should?

thanks

The Arnold specific attributes seem to work fine for me. Do you have a simplified scene that you can upload somewhere?
