Why do assets get copied from Content Browser to tex folder when rendering?

Hi,

I have created my own Preset Library within the C4D Content Browser and have a bunch of HDRIs in there. They are all in .tx format. But whenever I start a render, the .tx files get copied to the projects tex folder. This doesn't happen when I render with C4Ds standard or physical renderer. I thought it might have something to do with the tx creation preferences, but I've set it to not generate any tx files (as they already are tx files).

Is this a bug or do I miss something here?

Thanks!

That's an expected behavior. When you add textures to a preset library, they are embedded into the library file (.lib4d). Arnold need the textures stored on the disc, therefore they are copied from the binary to the tex folder when you render. Hope we can raise this limitation in a future version.

Thanks for the clarification, Peter. I would love to see that work in a future version. Because I do understand that limitation from a technical point of view, but as user it's a bit counterintuitive that all your assets get copied over and over again, even though you made the effort to create a library, which actually should make things more efficient. Anyway, thanks for your help!
