cell noise to volume displacement tutorial

I'm not getting any displacement at all when I do this tutorial:

https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AFHUG/Cell+Noise+to+Volume+Displacement+Animation

I tried downloading the sample file to my mac and when I unzip it, I get a directory structure that looks like a houdini scene but I don't see how to open it.

Does anyone have a sample scene I might have a look at to see where I may have gone wrong?

Thanks

The file was set to the persp camera. I have since saved it with the RenderCam as the viewport now, so you should just see this when you render.

Thanks Lee. I don't get a houdini scene when I unzip that file - but a directory structure. Is there a trick to opening this file?

Thanks

Ok I was able to download the hip file now. I had to copy the link - for some reason clicking on it downloaded a ".zip" file.

Cheers

Sorry, I am not on Mac so I can't test it. Yes, most downloads use .zip in the docs. Glad you got it working.

Thanks again. I found that if I do: "unzip -j /path/to/file.zip" I get the hip file instead of directories. I guess my mac is confusing the structure of the hip file with file folders without -j.

What do you mean? Animate the ramp?

Hi, I know it might be too late to ask for tips about this tutorial but I'm having some issues while using it on Maya 2023.

I've built the setup as was indicated in the tutorial but it doesn't work at all. I have no clue about what could be wrong.

I've attached a few screenshots showing my Hypershade setup, the catclark subdivisions and what I see in the Render View.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you tried the scene file here?

Yes I have, but still nothing... I tried playing with the values to try and see some change but the Sphere on which I've applied the material doesn't change at all

It renders fine for me. Are you using the latest build?

I'm afraid I'm not sure, at this poit I've just copied the setup from the demo file but it doesn't work.

I also tried to create a sphere in the same scene as the demo file, I applied the material to it and it still doesn't work, not even on the demo file

For me it works aswell but only on the demo head, I can't get it to work on any other shape.

I made sure to follow all the instructions,  I don't know what's wrong

This right here is my project, at this point I'm really curious about what the issue could be

Have you added a step_size to the object as in the screenshot?
