lighting effects

Hey guys,

I am currently a lookdev lead for a short film and really want to do something interesting with the lighting.

So my question is. Are there any plug ins or effects i can add too Arnold that will give the light a type of texture or effect so it isn't just default flat or smooth lighting? In an ideal world I would like to have a subtle paint brush type effect to the lighting but anything will be great.

I have been searching the internet for a decent while now and found a few examples of what i would like but nothing for Arnold. I would like to stay in Arnold for Maya as that is what my whole team is most comfortable with but if need be we could look at other renders.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JXIBeDas7w i am in love with how this looks but it is too extreme. However it is a great example of the type of effects i want.

If anyone has any ideas it would really help out alot.
