HtoA Instancing on Alembic points using operators

Hi,

Pretty standard scenario - destruction scene, debris are cached as a million points, they need shapes instanced on them. Wanna avoid dumping the points in the ass file, can that instancing be done using operators?

Thanks!

No, I'm afraid not. For every point, a ginstance or procedural or polymesh node has to be created, and the transformation from the point used to place the instance.

I see - can this geometry be created after the points are unpacked? This would let the ass only hold the reference to the packed points' location.
