Why does Arnold use the “Ai” prefix?

I know, it’s not a technical question, but I’ve always wondered this. What’s the meaning behind the At/Ai prefixes?

I'm not 100% confident on this, but I was always under the impression that they stood for "Arnold Interface" and "Arnold Type". So AiFoo is the name of a function and AtFoo is the name of an object.
