Arnold toon shader

1.pngHello. I started using Arnold recently in order to use built in toon shader. And i followed tutorials etc. but got different results than the person in the tutorial. I was copying it step by step, but it was for c4d and i work in 3ds max so some things were different. My question is, is there a way to assign toon shader to geometry other than by going through attaching it to base color of standard material? Can i somehow assign only toon shader without going through standard material? Like in the image i attached from one of the tutorials it just says assign toon shader to the gemotry but it won't let me do that unless i go through some material.

Yes, use Map to Material. I don't see any mention of 'standard' material in the tutorial?
