Maya Arnold crashing because of memory allocation on RTX3090

Hi I have a very simple scene in Maya 2020, a head model with about 3000 polys with using subdivs.

I'm rendering on the GPU and everytime it crashes saying

Details: Function "_rtContextLaunch2D" caught exception: Out of memory

What is happening? How can this scene be out of memory?

Specs-

RTX3090fe

Ryzen 5950x

64gb ram

The more recent Arnold versions will log the amount of gpu memory used when this type of thing happens. Can you get an Arnold log (verbosity level Info)?
A log for a cpu render would be useful too (for comparison and to know how much memory was used for things like subdiv when a render finished.

See the sidebar for links to the docs for the Arnold log:

Instructions for generating full verbosity log files are available for MtoA, MaxtoA, C4DtoA, HtoA, KtoA, and Kick.
