aiStandardVolume is always black

It's the first I try to use aiStandardVolume and my object is always black. I played with Transparent Weight, but nothing. Is there something I miss, maybe on the mesh ? I made different tutorial, but I don't understand. I am on Maya 2018 pack 2 with the last version of Arnold.

Is it a VDB volume? Did you set the grid on the volume?

What are you assigning the Standard Volume to? More information/images about the scene would be useful.

In order for a volume to render as a volume, you have to turn up the shape's Step Size to a value greater than 0 (try 0.001). This setting is found in the shape node of the object to which the standard volume is applied (shapeNode > Arnold > Volume Attributes > Step Size). Without this setting you would expect to see whatever material you have applied to the surface, and not just black. Not sure that this will be helpful. Good luck.
