Hi, I am trying GPU render scene in 3ds max 2022 it shows an error message and stops the render, a new user so cannot figure out the problem. the render stops with the message-
[Arnold]: 00:00:17 8798MB ERROR | [gpu] an error happened during rendering. OptiX error is: Invalid value (Details: Function "_rtContextLaunch2D" caught exception: Encountered a CUDA error: cudaDriver().CuMemMapArrayAsync( mapInfoList, count, stream.get() ) returned (1): Invalid value, file: <internal>, line: 0)
CPU rendering works fine.
GPU Graphic Card- NVIDIA RTX 2080
What version of MAXtoA do you have? More recent versions would print out more information, like how much GPU memory was being used at the time of the error.
MAXtoA 4.3.0.78
The full message displayed on the screen-
[Arnold]: 00:00:19 8535MB ERROR | [gpu] an error happened during rendering. OptiX error is: Invalid value (Details: Function "_rtContextLaunch2D" caught exception: Encountered a CUDA error: cudaDriver().CuMemMapArrayAsync( mapInfoList, count, stream.get() ) returned (1): Invalid value, file: <internal>, line: 0) GPU 0 had 6592MB free before rendering started and 2524MB free when crash occurred GPU errors are sometimes due to a GPU not having enough remaining free memory. To see if this is what happened here, try simplifying your scene or running on a GPU with more free RAM to see if it solves the crash. Otherwise, upgrading to the latest nvidia gpu driver and Arnold core (available from www.arnoldrenderer.com) might fix the crash
