Image vs Bitmap in C4DtoA

What, if any, real differences are there between the bitmap and image shaders in C4DtoA?

I haven't been able to notice any real differences in terms of rendered quality but know they do have different options/parameters.

I recently have been preferring to use bitmap shaders rather than image shaders because they are displayed when connected to the Arnold Viewport output and am curious if there's any reason to avoid this practice?

The Bitmap shader is translated as an image shader under the hood, so they are the same in Arnold. The only difference is in the parameters on the UI.

The image shader should be displayed in the viewport as well.

Thanks for the info 😄

For some reason it seems as if only bitmap shaders are showing up in the viewport for me though using C4DtoA 2.2.2.2

Works for me with CINEMA 4D R19, C4DtoA 2.2.2.2, and Windows 7
