Hi,
if I render an image with Arnold with 150 dpi and open it later in Photoshop CC, it still have 72 dpi. It I do the same with Maya Software Renderer it works. It there an issue with a solution, or am I doing something wrong? I need 150 for a still, that should be printed.
Regards Thomas
Currently, DPI isn't saved in the output metadata, you will need to change this in photoshop once it is rendered.
So long as you set the image size in mm, cm or inches and the DPI correctly it will save the correct size in pixels.
Then in PS you will need to change the size of the image to be the correct DPI, make sure you uncheck "resample image" otherwise it will change the pixel size and will be the wrong scale.
rendering is in pixel... dpi is for print... dont confuse this...

Thank´s for your comments. We are rendering for print, so we have to do some test and render higher resolutions and scale it down in photoshop.
So long as the same settings work for the Maya software render, the only thing that will be different is the DPI in the metadata, the actual pixels will be the same.
You should then be able to change the DPI in photoshop, as I say make sure you don't resample the image, otherwise you could distort or resize the actual pixel resolution of the image.
DPI does not equal resolution, it's a value to tell printers how many pixels to put per inch.
