HtoA - jettisoning of shaders

Hi, So this is a strange one. I opened up my houdini file and encountered a lot of bad VOP warnings. Houdini had jettisoned ALL of my shaders, HDRI image - basically all the utility nodes. I still had the upper level lights and material builder nodes and rops....but everything else was gone and I had to go back to an earlier save (incremental save - phew!). What I'd like to know is, is there a way to avoid this as i'm pretty nervous about this now.....further in to a project would have been BAD. I'd like a way to export EVRYTHING. Lights, materials etc so that even if it does stuff up, I can rebuild in minutes.

How did you open the file? By double-clicking the hip file?

No, That doesn't work well. I started houdini (after a crash) and then went to the recent files list - what was alarming is that there wasn't any reconnect, in the same way that opening up a file that has been moved to a different location might do when moved back to the correct spot. It just kinda jettisoned the shaders and stayed like that.

I asked because double-clicking the file can cause that problem. It opens Houdini a different way with a different environment.
