Scaling in UV space

I would like to scale a texture in UV space with the scale amount set via a primvar.

My first instinct was to bind the UV scale parameters on the image node to a primvar. But, unless I am missing something, it is not possible to expose these parameters as a connector.

I also considered the idea of scaling the uv signal using math nodes. My USD data contains a st primvar. However this is a 2d vector and, unless I am missing something, the user data node doesn't handle float arrays.

Is there another way to do this?
