Hi !
I'm trying to render grass in arnold using the c4d hair module, works pretty well so far, but I try to drive the grass/hair length with a proximal shader (to make it longer when close to objects intersecting the ground plane)
it works with standard C4D renderer but when I switch to arnold, the texture (a proximal shader) used in the hair length tab no longer affect the hair length.
is this a known issue ? did I do something wrong ? or is there any work around ?
proximal shader is not supported by Arnold
You can try to add an Arnold tag to the Hair object and enable Render via Hair Render effect on the Advanced tab. Also make sure that the Hair Render effect is enabled in the render settings (where you have Output, Save, Arnold, etc., should be enabled by default).
When this mode is enabled, the hair is generated and the shader is processed by C4D. Note, that it has some limitations, like no IPR and no motion blur support.
Hi guys ! thanks for the answers ! actually the Peter Horvath's solution works like a charm ! (and proximal shader as length driving method works this way ! ) no IPR but yep just using regular IRR is okay to set-up the hairs correctly 😉
