Arnold Batch Render looks different in Photoshop - What do I need to do?

Hey,

when rendering in IPR, colors look fine but when I batch render and open the .exr in Photoshop everything is washed out. I only have Photoshop at hand to do comps on rendered images.

I know that it has something to do with OCIO color settings that are now set as new defaults in Maya 2022 but I want to know how to treat it in Photoshop to have the same exact image to work with.

Saving the color corrected image from the IPR is not a real option, thats how I did it the last few renders but it wasn't satisfying ๐Ÿ˜ž

*(This whole ACES colorspace stuff is great but the workflow is pretty "ยง!"$#%& So many times I tried to understand whats going on but it is too hard to understand as an artist with not much technical knowledge. Is there a tutorial for dummies that don't have a scientific background in information technology?)

Isn't the problem that Photoshop is all ICC profiles, not ACES?
(I'm not a Photoshop user, I haven't opened it in a decade at least)

I was looking at this blog post:
https://www.deniskrez.com/post/_aces

which was recommending an ACEScc -> sRGB ACECcc ICC Profile for Photoshop workflow

Yeah, it is a problem! I am working at a small office and the Adobe Suite is the only tool to do compositing and it always is a hassle to work with ACES in this pipeline. No way anyone would let me buy Nuke (e.g.) only to convert and save out images.

Before OCIO got introduced in the new Maya/Arnold it never was a problem: Render out Batches, opening it with exr-IO in Photoshop and everyhing was there (Passes, Cryptomattes) to work with in Photoshop.

I will check out the links provided by You and Lee Griggs. Maybe even using old versions is a workaround for now ๐Ÿ˜ž

I always watch Arvids videos and I watched the ACES ones a lot. It took me a while to get my head around and I have established a workflow with MtoA and Nuke to get images out in ACES but not with Adobe, which is essential in many studios that don't focus on feature film production.

Even as a senior artist I think that the whole topic is poorly covered for people who don't have much of a technical background. Its a pity, because ACES provides more creative control in comp but working with it always is a pain. I know which buttons to press in Nuke but wouldn't be able to explain what I am doing to my coworkers.
