Why does my fur stay black? aiRampRGB StandardHair

strange.pngstrange2.png

Hello,

I use the aiRampRGB node with a map texture and a aiColorCorrect to change the look of my fur but despite all my efforts I get an entirely black fur. There should be white parts as in one of the attached images.

I don’t understand, the nodes are well connected, the texture map is functional and insert in a position as well as the aiColorCorrect. What did I forget?

Can you try that shader on some other curves? (not Ornatrix).
Does that work?

Hello Stephen!

Thank you for having the patience and curiosity about my problem! So, I tried this morning with Xgen and aiRampRGB shows me my map as well as aiColorCorrect. So the problem would be Ornatrix?

Maybe. I don't have Ornatrix set up to test. I wonder if the shader is actually applied to the fur, or whether it's some other shader. If you apply just an aiUtility shader and set it to some color (like maybe Primitive IDs), do you see that render?

Well, the problem is solved by itself, without any effort on my part. I don’t understand Maya sometimes.

Thanks anyway for your help!

Ok I have a first answer on why aiRampRGB works again. It works only when I run a cpu rendering. In GPU rendering, it stays black regardless of the surface or shader. But why? I try to look in the render parameters to find a noticeable difference between the two that would prevent the GPU from displaying the aiRampRGB correctly. If you have a beginning of answer, I am interested!
