Arnold Kick gets stuck during render

Hi

I'm having a lot of issues where I set a render going and Arnold will render through the 10%, 15%, 20% and at some point get stuck and just stop moving. If I hit ESC suddenly it springs back to life and continues rendering. This is most frustrating when you render overnight and return in the morning to see little progress. Any ideas? Is this a known thing?

I've seen it once or twice myself, but I haven't had any support cases about it.

Maybe try using cmd /c to run the batch file, or to run the kick command?
And redirect all output to a log file with >>
