Arnold not showing up after default installation for Houdini!!

Hello I've been wanting to install Arnold and literally just used the installer but in Houdini nothing shows up, not in the shelves and not even the console (I have Houdini FX 18.5.696.py3).

I have extracted Arnold into this folder: C:\Users\Julia\OneDrive\Desktop\Arnold

Here is what's in my Houdini.env file:

# htoa config start

PATH = "$PATH;C:/Users/Julia/OneDrive/Desktop/Arnold/htoa-6.0.1.0_rb2fc4a5_houdini-${HOUDINI_VERSION}.py3/scripts/bin"

HOUDINI_PATH = "C:/Users/Julia/OneDrive/Desktop/Arnold/htoa-6.0.1.0_rb2fc4a5_houdini-${HOUDINI_VERSION}.py3;&"

# htoa config end

I'm really clueless here, help would be very much appreciated.

Install or extract?

Extract won't install the required Visual Studio redistributable

Is that everything in houdini.env? If there's other stuff, that can conflict.

Can you post the details from Help > About Houdini > Show Details?

Hello,

I have just clicked "Install and configure Houdini for Arnold".

This is everything inside my houdini.env file:

# htoa config start

PATH = "$PATH;C:/Users/Julia/htoa/htoa-6.0.1.0_rb2fc4a5_houdini-18.5.696.py3/htoa-6.0.1.0_rb2fc4a5_houdini-${HOUDINI_VERSION}.py3/scripts/bin"

HOUDINI_PATH = "C:/Users/Julia/htoa/htoa-6.0.1.0_rb2fc4a5_houdini-18.5.696.py3/htoa-6.0.1.0_rb2fc4a5_houdini-${HOUDINI_VERSION}.py3;&"

# htoa config end

Here is the details file: Houdini_Info.txt

houdini.env needs to be here:

HOUDINI_USER_PREF_DIR C:/Users/Julia/OneDrive/Dokumente/houdini18.5

Is that where it is? Because PATH and HOUDINI_PATH do not have any HtoA paths in them.

Thank you so much that did it! For some reason I had two different documents and two different Houdini folders.

Hi @Stephen.Blair

I'm having the same issue but I seem to have all of the absolute paths and directories verified. The Arnold HtoA help documentation example shows a path that's one nested folder short of where the actual scripts/bin files are located on my computer so the only change I made was to accommodate it's location on my system. I added that in. Here is how my houdini ENV file reads:

PATH = "$PATH;C:\Users\jorda\htoa\htoa-6.1.1.1_ra2d41db_houdini-19.0.589\htoa-6.1.1.1_ra2d41db_houdini-19.0.589.py3\scripts\bin"
HOUDINI_PATH = "C:\Users\jorda\htoa\htoa-6.1.1.1_ra2d41db_houdini-19.0.589.py3;&"

Nothing shows up in Houdini though. Removed some of the other engines I uses with different agency clients just to avoid any type of conflict ( 3Dlight Octane and Redshift ) and still no joy.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
