Hi,
I am using Maya 2018 and latest Arnold build. When rendering 32bit Displacement map iget this error in output window.
foo: Sorry, can not handle images with 32-bit samples.
What does this mean?
Thanks in advance...
P.S: I hope this is the right place to post this question, unsure if it´s an Arnold question or more a Maya related
Hello Lee,
thanks for your reply.
To be more precise (my fault not having done in main post) it´s a EXR so in Maya I haven´t found a setting for RAW. Prefereces -> Color Managment is set to EXR=RAW. Attribute Editor -> Settings for Color Space is greyd out - Color Managment Off. It renders the displacement but not as detailed as expected. I am not a PRO 😉
I was just curious cause I couldn´t find an answer on the Internet
I would try enabling Color Management and setting the Displacement File texture Color Space to RAW or add a rule like you have done.
To add more detail, you need more Subdivision Iterations for your polymesh.
There is a Maya scene file (vector displacement) here.
... cranked it already up to over 6.500.000 faces, should be enough I think, everything up will crash my 32GB
I did not get the same error you did but I was getting some 32 bit warnings when I started working in 2018. Turns out I needed to turn on the OpenEXR in the plugins manager. Maybe it will help in your case as well.
