Hi there,
My setup:
- one workstation with maya
- five render nodes with a pack of 5x arnold
If I use the render nodes (all 5) and I fire up Maya on the workstation, I can not render a frame inside Maya (Arnold -> Render) without getting a watermark on one node in one image.
I thought I should be able to have five nodes (5 render node pack) and can also render inside maya without having troubles. As I sometimes use my workstation also for network rendering (of course I use one node less), I have set ADSKFLEX_LICENSE also at the workstation. But this should not make trouble at all, as in the normal environment I batch render on the five nodes and render previews inside Maya.
Any ideas?
What version of Maya? Maya 2017 and later do not use an Arnold license, as long as you render inside the user interface.
If you're using Maya 2016 or earlier, then rendering in Maya will take an Arnold license.
Hi Stephen,
thank you. I am using Maya 2018.1.....
With user interface we talk both from rendering inside Maya via menu [Arnold] -> [Render] and maybe also [Render] -> [Render Sequence]? (last one I did not check. I just wanna be able to work and setup Materials, Shaders, etc. without having Watermarks in some frames on my render nodes)
Thank you,
Michael
Arnold > Render does not use an Arnold license.
Render > Render Sequence does not use an Arnold license.
Check the license server log to see why the license is denied to the render node.
Hi Stephen,
thank you for clarifying. I will do some research and came back to you.
In the log: "Peak active connections #6 attempted at ......" means there was a 6th request for a license?
Thank you,
Michael
Looks like it. There should be a DENIED entry in the log (along with all the IN and OUT entries).
I'm assuming this is with an Autodesk license, not RLM
I wrote a guide on the Autodesk forums. Should get you all set up and answer any questions you have. Good Luck.
@Max
Thank you. Great tutorial! But in my case all works fine, excepting a small problem with one license.
However, thank you for your time. I am sure you help a lot of peoples out there (so you would also me - if I noticed this a half year earlier 🙂
