Arnold not rendering with any instances in the scene (3.0.0.2)

Hi,

Not a question, but I thought I would post my experience.

I have a class of students working on projects, many of which feature instances (nParticles and Mash). We recently upgraded Arnold to 3.0.0.2, and then any scene with instances of any kind would simply not render. The Arnold Render View would simply remain blank.

At first we only noticed the problem with Mash and resolved it by switching instances to repromesh. At one point it also seemed that if we unloaded and reloaded the instanced object in the Mash instancer, that rendering would resume (with instances still on). However, that only seemed to work in simple test cases. In other scenes where there were many Mash waiters, this did not solve the problem.

We then noticed the same problem with nParticles with instances. No rendering. There is no easy work-around here. So we decided to roll back the Arnold version:

3.0.0.1 - problem persisted

3.0.0.0 - problem resolved. Rendering worked.

Please note, that this happened on Mac Pros and iMacs all running the latest version of High Sierra. I don't know why I ever break my rule against upgrading anything during production!

Hope this is helpful to someone.

I just tested nParticles instances with Maya 2018 Update 3 and MtoA 3.0.0.2, and it worked

Thanks - I'm getting inconsistent results, so there must be something else at play here...

Exactly the same is happening to me right now., Arnold 3.0.0.2 / MAYA 2017 / Windows 10 Doesn't render my scene with instanced Mash Networks. It takes ages for the render to start or just doesn't work and freezes Maya. My friend has tried rendering my scene on her computer with Arnold 2.1.0.1 and the scene is rendering like a charm. 😞 guess I have to roll back the a previous version too.
