Why can't I export my images as 16 bit?

I've changed the file outputs to png and tif while changing the format into int16 or half precision for exr and they still give me 32bit or 8 bit images when I check in Photoshop. I have AOVs available and also changed the data for the Z into int from float but I still keep on getting 32bit. Am I missing a step or are the files being misread as 32bit in photoshop?

Not sure about photoshop. But you can check in Nuke metadata.
