rendering video material in 3ds max 2018

Hello Everyone!

I am trying to create a simple short animation that includes a screen playing a video. This video (avi or mov file) I have attached it as bitmap map to an Arnold physical material and then applied it to the screen object.

By the time I apply the aforementioned material in the scene, 3ds max seems to be unable to render anything. While the animation is being rendered smoothly before applying the video material, it seems that there is a bug appearing for some reason.

Note: this is what happens to the material when I load some videos (this time is a mov file)

This is how the exposure control preview is rendered:

And this is the final render from any keyframe among the animation time ribbon:

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is Arnold unable to work with video formats as materials? Also, why sometimes do I get this error message when I try to load a video file in the bitmap material slot?

If anyone has a clue on any of the above please let me know ASAP.

Cheers,

Adam

You can't use videos as textures. You'll need to use an image sequence

What do you mean image sequence as I'm trying to render a .avi in a scene but I found out you can't do that.

Here is OSL solution to get animated textures rendering as time line is scrubbed.
