MtoA Error: invalid render region (-2147483648,-1)-->(-1,-1)

Every so often we've had Maya produce an error when trying to render:

Error: invalid render region (-2147483648,-1)-->(-1,-1)

We've never been able to identify what's causing it or how to stop it. It can happen with the Maya renderview, Arnold renderview, or batch render. Once a scene is "infected" it becomes impossible to render it. Sometimes we've had to import geometry into another scene to get away from it.

Has anyone encountered this error before or know what it means?

Im having the same problem

It means the minumum and maximum values for X and Y are not a valid render region.

By default, the min and max are effectively infinite, and that shows up as -2147483648

$ date -d @2147483647

take care of this date 😉 because if that number is the widest region extension you can get then that date is the further date a nix system can live up 😉 (the missing 1 is used for the signed bit btw).

We are getting the same error but the end bit is different.

invalid render region (-2147483648,-2147483648)-->(-2147483648,-2147483648)

With the same default settings, some renders render fine with out an error, and some renders fail due to this error. Not sure what could be causing the discrepancy if the values are the same.

Any ideas?
