Currently what I've found so far is pretty simple. Work in cinema 4D R19, apply a boolean between two mesh's, and Arnold when using the IPR window will out right crash the whole software. More details about these mesh's that I can give is between 1 or more entities in a group. These objects will typically have CAD like geometry so edge flow is pretty messy. However Cinema 4D does just fine figuring out how to Boole these complex structures.
Well, Arnold does not apply boolean in render time, but uses the geometry from C4D, so I'm not sure what's going on. Can you share the scene, so I can take a look?
Hi Peter, I'll see about getting a file. Until then the files converted are xt. We bring them into Modo export them out as FBX and import them into Cinema 4D. Here and Modo you'll see that the geometry is extremely messy however it doesn't have too much of a problem in scene or shading/rendering for the most part. We then Boolean a few pieces some upwards of 10k-20,000 + poly's and it will render but the success rate of it doing so before a crash is somewhere around 50%-60%.
