No sign of internal subd displacement failure ?

Arnold sometimes fails to subdivide the mesh for displacement (generally for non-manifold stuff and that's all ok) but there ain't any callback into the DCC and not even a line in the verbose, how's that ?!

Being the 'auto bump' option enabled by default is very difficult for someone to even spot the problem because we see the perturbation applied to the geometry but if disp fails it's all bump and not a single polygon has been subd and moved.

For those having problems eventually check geometry stats in the arnold verbose and if when digging with subd iterations nothing changes .. well that's a sign of subd failure and you won't have correct displacement until geometry is fixed (it doesn't necessary matter that you can subd in the viewport) ... mesh->cleanup.

🙂 it's there of course 🙂
