Why does my render view and my saved image look different?

I'm a total newbie to Arnold. I apologize if this has been asked before but I can't find a solution any where. I added three images in this post. One is a screen capture of my screen showing the difference between the arnold IPR render and the png image I saved the render as. Also, if I save it as a bmp, it looks darker? Can anybody explain to me clearly how to save the render exactly as it appears in the IPR. Thank you in advance.untitled-1.jpgbmp-1080.pngpng.png

Look up color management and gamma correction.

If you mean this Gamma Correction It's no longer in Maya. As for color management, I found it under settings and provided a screen cap of the default settings. Would you be able to tell me what I have to set the settings as? Thanks. Also , I read this but I have trouble understanding it. Could you suggest a tutorial on how to deal with all of these settings if there is any? settings.png

In your Arnold render view go to file - save image options and check your settings.

(Render Window) File > Same Image > Settings > "color managed image"

Geezus... it's like ever Arnold default setting is the opposite of what a rational human would want... People expect WYSIWYG, especially in a render window of all places.3873-screen-shot-2019-05-09-at-110340-am.png

It's not an Arnold thing, it's a Maya thing. The (bogus) assumption on the part of the Maya developers is that the user always wants to save a raw image, and grade it in post. But they also assume that the user always wants to see a *preview* of what that raw image will look like *after* it's been converted to the proper color space, e.g. sRGB. So View Transform is on by default for the viewports and Render View, so you see a gamma corrected image. But View Transform is off by default when saving out of the Render View.

Color Management in Maya is complex, supremely messed up, and incredibly user dismissive. Not just unfriendly, but dismissive and nearly hostile. It's a throwback to the bad old days when Maya was designed by experts, for experts, and anyone who did not have deep knowledge of everything was just flat out abandoned.

By the way, I covered Maya Color Management in my LinkedIn Learning / Lynda.com course, Maya 2016 New Features. That was back in the days of mental ray, but the Color Management settings have not changed since then. The section on Color Management is about 16 minutes long.
