How to change Arnold Properties for PFlow particles???

Hello,

The Arnold Properties modifier does nothing to a PF Source object.

Apparently there is no way for me to control essential Arnold Properties such as Opaque and Volume for Pflow particles. It appears that it is currently not possible to render Pflow particles as anything other than hard surfaces. No transmission, no volumetrics, nothing. Incredibly disappointing.

I thought maybe I could use Turn to Mesh or something like that, but that's not supported either.

Please tell me this is being worked on.

Aaron

I've been searching for months on this exact answer, and finally found it. In Scene Explorer, select the PF Source event containing your Material Static operator ("PF Source 0001->Event 001") and add Arnold Properties modifier in the Modify tab.

@Chris Tranchina - I cannot get the event to show up in scene explorer. I can only apply arnold properties to the root PF Source, so I get solid black.... Any one know how to get a PF Source event as noted above to show up in scene explorer so that I can select it to apply an arnold properties mod?

I've had that same issue with the PFS Events not showing up in the Scene Explorer or in the Layer Explorer. The easiest way I found to select it, so that then you can apply the Arnold Properties modifier to it, is to open the MAXScript Editor and run this command (start and end with the parenthesis);

(
   select $'PF Source 0001->Event 001'
)

where you name the source and event of what you want to select. Once you run this command in the MAXScript window it will select that event for you and you can add the Arnold Properties modifier.

Very odd that the events are a part of the scene but can't be found in any of the explorers that list what are in the scene.

I just created a pflow system to give an answer about the particle age access via OSL or Arnold nodes, and checked this one as well.
The PF Source 001->Event001 is listed in my explorer and selecting it and adding an Arnold modifer, works like normal.

max 2020.
