Best practice for Motion Blur on MASH in Maya?

I'm working with a simple MASH network but adding Motion Blur seems to be a bit of a struggle. I'm getting unpredictable results. I've tried cache with the Cache menu, caching with the MASH menu but the results do not improve.

Any tricks to this aside from adding the motion blur in post comp?

What are your motion blur settings? How many keys are you using?
