I am having a frustrating issue in Maya. Hoping you all can set me straight.
Simple scenario!
I have a polygon plane with a file node hooked into emission color so that I don't need lights to render the photo.
the problem is that no matter what settings I change in the Arnold renderer or the file node it's still a tad blurry compared to the original. More than it should be!
Now if I change the file node to aiimage, the photo immediately becomes clearer. It's still not perfect to my eyes (I wish it was close to perfect), it's much better. To make sure everything is as clear as can be i turn filtering to closest.
What is going on here?
my render is a 1k square and the photo is a 1k square so I just zoom in to make it fill the screen.
I'd be happy to just use aiimage except... it doesn't seem aiimage supports relative file paths to my project folder, wtf? How do I get the file node to look crisp?
I just tested and couldn't find any difference in the behavior of the file and aiImage nodes. However, I would guess the slight blur you see on either would be due to mipmapping, which is usually to your advantage. You could try adjusting the mipmap bias to see if it yields sharper results.
