Controlling volume transparency colour

Hi there, Is it possible to somehow map a ramp to transparency colour of a volume? Currently if you set the colour to purple you get green and purple gradient. Is there a way of having more control of the colour as it passes through the volume?

Many thanks

Have you tried the volume sample RGB shader? Tutorial here.

Thanks for your reply Lee, yes that is a great tutorial! Unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to have a great amount of control over colour with volumes as yet.
