Arnold releasing resources thousand times for every click in Maya

I'm working on Lighting for our studio's animation.

However, when I try to do something (anything like selecting object, move viewport, move frames, etc, ...) output window shows log that arnold is loading same plugins over and over again and releasing resources, and Maya freezes for 5-10 seconds.

Why does this happen? I literally CANT work at all because of this.

Somebody please please let me know how to stop that iteration.

You can disable swatch rendering in the Render Settings

Hi, I found the way to stop those iteration.

When I'm working with Attribute Editor or Hypershade opened, Arnold updates thumbnail of selected object's shader.

If I close Attribute Editor and Hypershade, It doesn't happen anymore.

However, I need Attribute Editor opened all the time for efficiency. So, I disabled thumbnail update with MEL script.

renderThumbnailUpdate false;

Still don't understand why thumbnail updating requires Arnold plug-in loading every time, but for now this solution is enough for me to speed up my work process.

Thanks for all the answers!

Hi UNKNOWN

This looks like Maya is loading the plugin over and over.
Is there anything logged in the script history?

If it was standins there would be something like this in the log too:

00:00:00  2168MB         | [ass] loading S:/examples/example.ass
00:00:00  2348MB         | [ass] read 175541431 bytes, 157 nodes in 0:00.52

Also, why does it take 4 seconds? I sometimes see the same thing in my logs and it takes 0 seconds. Something else must be going on...

And why are there non-ascii characters in the path for the third "loading plugins" ? How do you set up the module files for Maya? Do you do anything different for setting up MtoA and the module file?

Does this happen with any scene? With an empty scene?

Do you have swatch rendering enabled?

This is blind shot - does your scene contain lots of aiStandins ?

If yes, try disabling viewport load - I believe I had similar problem in past.

setAttr "aiStandInShape.standInDrawOverride" 4;

Does it happen with the latest release? New Prefs folder?
